I am sad about my country and its justice system – The Supreme Court of India just doesn’t want to ban ‘toxic’ asbestos in India. You should know that asbestos is banned in about 52 countries. Its the cause of the incurable Mesothelioma – a form of cancer. India is the second largest user of asbestos behind China. The asbestos lobby is pretty powerful in India and as usual the Govt gets a lot of money from them in several forms. The annual turnover is around Rs 4,000 crore, about 20 per cent of which goes to the states as direct and indirect tax – so its a lot of money – so health of the people is not much important.
