Avittathur Sage Agasthya Temple – dedicated to the pioneering sage

81 / 100 SEO Score

Avittathur Sage Agasthya Temple is located just next to Avittathur Mahadeva Temple.

Its located to the north west of the Mahadeva Temple.

Do visit this temple also while visiting the Mahadeva Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

It is believed Sage Agastya performed his penance at this place.

He is also one of the Saptarishis (Seven Sages) of the Vedic tradition and is credited with introducing Brahmanical culture to South India, significantly influencing its languages and literature.

Agastya is also associated with the founding of the Siddha tradition, which encompasses practices like medicine, astrology and yoga.

The temple is new – constructed as per Deva Prashnam to give proper respect to the Sage.
