I was amazed to find that there are still receipt printers which uses thermal and inkjet technology these days. I though that most used dot matrix technology which provides very low cost printing. But I am wrong – Have a look at this epson receipt printer range. There are dot matrix, inkjet, thermal printers available in the market. Is the heat sensitive paper for thermal printers costlier than normal paper? I think so – but then I am not so sure these days.
