In this dark economic times, I personally think that its better not to go for gold jewelry. You should not only consider the economic reasons (you can invest gold in metal exchange market but better not to buy and keep it in home) but also consider the safety reasons. You are more likely to get mugged if you are wearing expensive gold jewelry. My opinion is to go for semi precious beads jewelry. Its better not to wear anything resembling gold.
