Madupetty Dam – Gorgeous tourist destination

Madupetty Dam (also referred to as Mattupetty Dam) is located near Munnar. The construction of the dam began in 1949 and was completed in 1953. Its a concrete gravity dam with a length of 237.75m, height of 85.34m. The catchment area is 60.5 sq km, provides water to Madupetty Power house and Pallivasal Power House to generate hydro electricity.

The way to Mattupetty Dam is very picturesque, with many tea plantations and scenic spots. The dam and the surrounding places are also a feast for the eyes.

Boating is available in the Dam. There are coffee/tea shops nearby and you can drive through the dam in your vehicle to the other side.
