Age Spots

For those dummies out there, age spots (also known as liver spots or solar lentigines) are brownish spots that, over time appear on your face and body as a result of overexposure to the sun. As we age the ‘melanin pigment’ which protects us from the UV (ultraviolet) rays decreases and we are more susceptible. Sunscreens are very helpful in preventing age spots because they block UV rays very much. But there are treatments for people having age spots – electrosurgery, laser treatment, cryotherapy etc.
