Avittathur Mahadeva Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala.

Its located in Avittathur Village, Thrissur district, Kerala State, India.

Its believed to be older than 2000 years.

Its one of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala.

Folklore says that Shiva Lingam of the temple was installed by lord parasurama and later sage Agasthya constructed the temple and designed the day to day rituals.

The temple is in a 3.25 acre compound.

Sri Mahadeva or Lord Shiva is facing west in a separate inner Sanctorum.

Sub dieties include Lord Ganapati, Lord Shastha etc.

Currently the temple is declared as protected monument by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).
