Freaks Poster at Wikipedia

Freaks tells the story of a 7 year old girl Chloe Lewis (brilliantly played by Lexy Kolker) who is always kept in the house by her overprotective dad Henry Lewis (Emile Hirsch). He tells her that there are bad people outside and she can’t leave the house.

Freaks 2018 Movie – My Opinion

The story is not what you would call an original. The movie starts like a family movie about an overprotective dad and his child, but it ventures into a totally different path of science fiction. The way in which the story is being told is being told is what makes this movie good.

You will be seeing almost everything through the 7 year girl – Chloe Lewis – point of view. Lexy Kolker brilliantly portrays this character and you will most likely be glued to the screen due to her performance.

I thought that Emile Hirsch played the part of the dad well (one of his better performances) and Bruce Dern is just good as usual.

Mind you the screen play, direction, the cast are pretty good. The special effects is ok given the limited budget.

I didn’t think that this movie got the recognition that it needed since this was more of a Indie movie than a mainstream one. But its far better than some of the Marvel or DC releases these days. This is a kind of a classic sci-fi movie which could turn into a cult classic in the years to come.

I am rating it 5 stars out of 5.
