Free Guy Movie Review

82 / 100

Free Guy stars stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Taika Waititi and several cameo appearances by many including Channing Tatum, Chris Evans.

Free Guy

The movie is based as Ryan Reynolds as Guy who is a NPC (non-player character) in an open-world video game called Free City.

Guy works as a bank teller and spends time with his best friend and co-worker – bank security guard Buddy, unaware that his world is a video game.

One day, he encounters Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer), who is singing the song that he says his dream girl will like and begins to deviate from his programming. He starts following her and this is where the fun begins. Not saying anything more so that you need to see this or yourselves.

Its not as serious as Ready Player One – but it not meant to be. This movie is quite silly but fun.

Free Guy Trailer

Free Guy is currently running in theaters (following a year old delay due to Covid) and should soon come to streaming platform – most likely Disney Plus

  1. I entered the movie expecting to laugh out loud, and I did. Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi are comedic geniuses. What I didn’t expect is the great chemistry between Ryan and Jodie Comer. Their relationship carried the movie. Also, the trailer and the first act made us believe that it’s the generic “we live in a simulation” movie like many others. But, as we progress, the movie becomes its own thing. And it’s fantastic.
