81 / 100

Thirumandhamkunnu Temple is located in a hillrock (Thirumandhamkunnu) at Angadipuram, Malappuram district, Kerala, India.

Even though the principal deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, the famous deities are Sree Bhadrakali or Sree Parvathy, locally known as Thirumandhamkunnil Amma, and Lord Ganesha for whom the temple is famous for the Mangalya Puja, which is a marriage oblation performed for Ganesha.

Thirumandhamkunnil Amma was the paradevatha or official goddess of the kings of Valluvanad (the local feudal kings who ruled the area from 12th to 18th century). The Nair warriors (called Chavers which means martyrs) of the Valluvanad king set out from this temple to Thirunavaya, to participate in the famous Mamankam festival.

The temple open in the morning at 4AM and closes at 12PM. It opens in the eveving at 4PM and closes at 8:30PM.

Thirumandhamkunnu Pooram is the annual festival of the temple. This is a famous 11 day long celebration.

Currently the temple is maintained by the Malabar Devasom Board.
