Kurishumala, Vagamon – pilgrimage path with magical views

82 / 100

Kurishumala is one of the must visit places if you ever go to Vagamon.

Even though this is primarily a Christian pilgrimage site, this is a fantastic trekking point for all travelers.

Your journey starts at the base – Kallillakavala.

As you walk upwards the hill, there are 14 crosses (known as ‘Way of the cross’) at regular intervals on the hill – which shows stages in Christ’s last journey.

There is a small church on top.

Its always better not to travel alone, do it with your friends or relatives. I did the journey alone as my friends or my relatives thought that it wasn’t easy. (They missed the breathtaking magical views).

The walk is only around 1.2km, its a bit steep – so take your time, rest in between and have enough drinking water with you.

Anyone with an average fitness can easily climb this hill.

Also its better not to climb when its raining or having thunder strikes. Its open all around.
