The Main Diety Peringavu Sree Dhanwanthari Temple is of course Dhanwanthari or Dhanwanthary Moorthy – The hindu god of medicine and an avatar of lord vishnu.

The subdieties are Sree Ganesha, Sree Ayyappan, Brahma Rakshas, Naga Devatas, Sree Bhadrakali etc

The temple is more than 900 yrs old and it was under the control the Cochin Kingdom. Later the temple and adjoining areas were bestowed to the famous Ashtavaidyan Thaikkattu Mooss, the then Kottaram Vaidyan or Doctor of Cochin Kingdom for their ayurvedic achievements.

Later Pazhanelli Achhan Mooss of the famous Thaikkattu Mana did the renovation and Puna Prathista of Sree Dhanwanthari Moorthy.

In 1968, Sree Ashtavaidyan Thaikkattu Narayanan Mooss handed over the ownership of the temple to the Peringavu Devaswom Committee which consiosted of elected representataives from the Hindu Community of Peringavu Village or Thattakam.

On 21st August 1974, Mooss handed over all the documents of ownership of the temple to the Peringavu Devaswom. From that day onwards the chief patron of the temple was one of the members of this Illam.

The temple opens at 5:30 am and closes at 10:00 am in the morning. It again open at 5:30 pm and closes at 8:00 pm in the evening.

The temple is situated inside a residential area, around 2 km from Thrissur town. Its a little difficult to navigate or reach there since the roads are narrow and there could be heavy traffic after 8am in the morning or after 5 pm in the evening.
