The Gentlemen Movie Review – Gangster Comedy at its Best

81 / 100

The Gentlemen, a gangster comedy film by Guy Ritchie. As per my opnion this is one of the better movies of 2019. This is a comeback for Guy Ritchie into his usual element of gangsters with comedy blend.

The Gentlemen Movie – My View

If you loved earlier gangster comedy movies of Guy Ritchie like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, RocknRolla – then you are going to love this one too. Its a similar movie with loads of comedy.

The story is about cannabis kingpin Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who is trying to sell his business to American billionaire Matthew Berger (Jeremy Strong). Things get complicated when people finds out about this and things go a lot sideways.. absolutely hilarious scenes..

Perhaps the best character is Fletcher (played by Hugh Grant). Hugh Grant is a beast in this character. He is absolutely witty. He is the standout performer in this movie. I am not saying that the rest of them didn’t do well. The rest of the actors did their job well, but Hugh Grant is a notch above.

Though its stated as an action comedy, there is more of comedy than action. The story is carried on by the excellent screenplay by Guy Ritchie. You will love the twist and turns of the storyline in the movie.

I will give this a 4 stars out of 5.
